The purpose of this website is to support the research project "A Framework for Improving Building Operating Decisions," being conducted at the University of Reading, in partnership with Penn State.
The main goal of the research is to develop a concise and practical web-based energy performance and maintenance management decision support tool.
The question-driven tool can be used by facility managers, chief engineers, facility management consultants and others to help prioritze energy and maintenance activities for a building or campus.
A Framework, a structure to organize a complex process, is being used to develop the decision support tool. The research acknowledges the complexities and challenges of building operations and seeks to help define and elevate maintenance and energy performance goals.
The inclusion of practicing Facility Managers, Engineers, Architects, Commissioning Agents, Maintenance Technicians and other members of the commercial building industry is critical so that the research results can be readily applied in practice.
